Here are some testimonies of people who have visited us and supported us over the years. If you'd like to send us a testimony to post here, please email us at webmaster@hftnph.org. Dan Neff: Deacon of East Petersburg Mennonite Church and owner of S. Clyde Weavers. He made visits in 2005 and 2009"As a visitor to HOJ over the time of several weeks, I was impressed with the dedication and focus of the staff. The staff is definitely dedicated to loving and serving each child and each other, as they carry out the daily tasks of the feeding program. It is also apparent that the staff sees the potential in each child to become a leader for the cause of Christ and for the good of the Christian community. Each child is seen as a leader of tomorrow and is encouraged to understand the scriptures in order to make good life choices. The children are prayed for and supported in their daily challenges. The children are being trained to respect God, themselves, and other believers. The love shown to the children by the staff has always overflowed to us in the form of a very gracious welcome and the immediate expressions of acceptance by each child. I will always remember the meaningful times of worship and sharing that we experienced as visitors to HOJ." Mel Sanderson: Children's pastor of Lynn Valley Full Gospel Church. Visited in 2009. "When I got on the plane in Chiang Mai, Thailand to head for Davao I don't think I really knew what to expect. I have been on many missions' trips and have seen a lot of different types of poor communities but Agdao had such a friendly atmosphere and I am sure it had everything to do with being accompanied by the staff from HFTN. The only way I thought of describing HFTN was that it was like a recreation centre here in Canada. The feeding program staff and the staff that worked with the children were both so loving and welcoming. Watching the leadership teach and model to the kids on how to love God and love others was inspiring. I kind of had forgotten how simple the Gospel really is and providing for some basic needs and teaching them spiritual truths is all we really need. I got inspired to get my church to do hygiene packs for the kids in the community and than to see the pictures of them wearing the t-shirts in a community event made me think of an army of God's soldiers for future leaders! Thanks so much for letting me come and visit; I will never forget my time there." Reece Worsfold: Mom of four and long time supporter of HFTN. Has made multiple visits."I
spent a year in the Philippines when I was 19 ... and as you can
imagine it was an amazing life changing experience! After getting
married (yes ... to the same guy I was dating when I was gone for a
year!) and having kids, I asked Jesus if he would give me the
opportunity to take our kids to the Philippines before they graduated.
We prayed for so many years, and tried several times, but finances or
timing fell through. Finally when the kids were 11, 13, 15 & 17 we
were able to do a trip to Thailand and the Philippines for a month with
them. What an amazing thing to do together as a family! Our first week was spent in Davao with Dave and Liz (soon to be married!). It was such a wonderful way to start our trip. We have a little girl that we sponsor thru the Tabitha Feeding Program, and we were able to meet her and her family, and go visit her home. Just that alone was enough to grab our hearts forever! Dave and Liz were able to help us with a good balance of experiences. They understood the jet lag we would be feeling, as well as all the new thoughts, feelings and processing time that needed to happen as our kids got to experience so many new things ... a completely different culture and language, the challenges and heartaches of a developing nation, the joy of being with all the kids in the feeding program, a warm ocean with spectacular fish, rice everyday ... and of course mangos and pineapples that were heavenly! They arranged a place for us to stay that was safe and comfortable, and easy to get to the House of Jubilee from. They allowed us to be in situations that pushed our comfort levels and triggered lots of questions. They didn't sugar coat their reality, nor did they complain. They walked out a beautiful combination of heartache and hope. They connected so well with our kids- loved on them and demonstrated to them the reasons why they have fallen in love with their community in Davao It was so great to see the practical ways that Dave and Liz have set up to work with the kids and their families, and they were very real with the challenges as well. They graciously allowed us to process the poverty that we saw, and helped us figure out ways that we could respond as a family. We felt welcomed into their ministry and lives and love who they are and what they are doing for the Kingdom of Jesus in Davao!" |
