"Many children in the Philippines, especially in Mindanao, go to school hungry."1
This undernourishment means many things, including, poor health, weak immune systems and stunted physical and mental development. This makes it difficult for them to escape the cycle of poverty and when they grow up they fall into the same situation as their parents and the cycle continues.
A Clear Mandate
It is unjust that there are children in the world who go hungry and lack proper food. It is unjust that they are condemned to live in hopelessness. If they were your kids or my kids, we would never settle for it.
We believe that we have been given a mandate to not only feed the poor but give them hope.

Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke?
Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter- when you see the naked, to clothe him, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?
